ROV's are important pieces of equipment that help us learn about the populations in deep water. Lionfish have been spotted in depths of 1,000 feet! If we are going to control the populations of these invasive species we need more data than just the sizes and locations of our shallow waters. Unfortunately, it is not easy getting to these depths and it is expensive. You have the cost and maintenance of the drone equipment, boats, fuel, time, and a whole lot more that goes into the study of the deeper water and populations.
